Common guidelines and recommendations for the sector
In addition to legislation, the activities of authorized pension providers are governed by guidelines and recommendations drawn up jointly in the sector. The recommendations on this page refer to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as measures in vocational rehabilitation and reimbursement for rehabilitation costs.

Prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing
Guidelines for prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing is prepared by the Advisory Committee for Legal Affairs. The latest version of the guidelines was approved by the TELA Board of Directors in spring 2024. With the guidelines, the earnings-related pension sector wants to demonstrate its adherence to the best and uniform practices for preventing the risks of money laundering and the terrorist financing inherent to earnings-related pension insurance. These guidelines, formulated as recommendations, set out the general issues in the sector. Each pension provider decides how it takes the guidelines into account in its own operations.

Measures to be reimbursed as vocational rehabilitation
The Acts on earnings-related pensions include provisions regarding the right to vocational rehabilitation offered by authorized pension providers. The measures reimbursed as rehabilitation are work trials, job coaching, studying, and start-up grants for self-employment. Their content is described in more detail in the enclosed recommendation. The recommendation was prepared by the Group on Rehabilitation Affairs.
As regards measures, pension providers follow practices in line with this recommendation.

Reimbursement for costs related to vocational rehabilitation
Authorized pension providers have drawn up a joint recommendation on how the costs of participating in vocational rehabilitation are reimbursed. The recommendation is prepared by the Group on Rehabilitation Affairs.
The recommendation includes both reimbursement for vocational rehabilitation costs and reimbursement for the costs of reports required for the disability pension decision or rehabilitation. The recommendation is updated every year.
